Leaving her home in the tropics from a ripe old age of eighteen, Sarah found herself on the brink of a great adventure in Toronto, Ontario. Using what little she knew about design she embarked on a four year journey that shaped her as both a graphic designer and as an adult. Carrying the weight of the knowledge she has attained throughout her life thus far, together with the support of her loving family and the joy of her friends she continues beyond her academic education to eat, sleep, design and be merry.




Socotra is a typeface based on the topography of the island Socotra off the South East coast of Yemen. The typeface is rigid in structure to reflect the rocky landscape of Socotra. There are strong contrasts in the letters that illustrate the harsh formations of the landscape in relation to the delicate and rare flora and fauna that can be found on the island. The typeface consists of both uppercase and lowercase characters as well as a set of punctuation and ligatures.
Galaxy Magazine is a publication based on astronomy. This particular issue looks at the lifespan of the Phoenix Lander and the mission to mars. The magazine on a whole represents the entire mission using linear structures to simulate the architecture of the equipment itself. The colours are monochromatic to reflect the darkness of space in contrast to the white Phoenix Lander with red as representing the voice of the Phoenix to show the path and lifespan.
