Amnesty International

To raise awareness about the danger of landmines across the world an interactive advertising campaign was developed for Amnesty International. The idea was to replace the traditional print advertisements seen in bus shelters with a digital display. A video camera was installed on the opposite, outside, wall of the shelter sending a live video feed of the environment to the display. This created a transparent, glass effect – as if commuters were staring through the display.

Upon entering the shelter a motion sensor is triggered causing a video sequence to begin. A graphic of a landmine superimposed over the live video suddenly springs from the ground and explodes, catching commuters off guard.

The campaign is meant to raise awareness about the unexpected and undiscriminating nature of landmines by imposing the threat at home. Following the explosion an infographic displays the day’s casualties accompanied by a tagline which reads: “Before your bus arrives a landmine will have either injured or claimed the life of a person”.

Characters

Characters is a fictional cinematic piece roughly based on a news broadcast of footage found at the site of a bizarre earthquake encounter which only leaves devastating effects on typographic characters in the area. This piece explores the pervasiveness of typography in our world and entertains the idea of a world without type – a prominent communication medium.

Expressions

Expressions in an interactive experience where a participant can use the volume of their voice, by speaking into a microphone, as a digital brush painting typography onto a subway train. By varying their volume the user can control the size and characteristics of the typography with which they effectively paint a canvas.

Nike Response

Nike Response is an advertisement installation existing in a storefront display, which is designed to interact with potential customers passing by.

The installation essentially consist of a rear projection screen hanging in the storefront with the advert (a Nike shoe) projected onto it. When a person walks past the display the shoe becomes distorted as if to mimic the tension put on shoes as people stay active. When the person stops or no further motion is detected the advertised shoe compresses back into its natural, original, form. The tagline ‘form remixed’, accompanying the unique user interaction, extends this notion onto the audience. Nike Response is about providing the customer with a platform to redefine with their unique and personal lifestyles.
