Solvin' Problems.
Every project, I strive to create a form that is inseparable from the content. I place a large emphasis on typography and type design in each project. Designing custom type for projects allows me to create a unique and idiosyncratic voice that reflects the content for each project. I feel that type design is an area that encourages individual voices which I feel is needed more in Canada than ever.
In our Communication Design 2 class, we were tasked with redesigning a festival’s identity. I took Pictoplasma NYC, the first of the Pictoplasma conferences in North America, and focused on it’s ‘invasion’ of New York through character design. I thought of the different materials that make up a city and transformed them into little characters which can be used as graphic elements as well as stickers that can be put up around the city.
