Sk® Starter Kit

Serial Killer Starter Kit posing as a children’s cereal called Teddy Treats, brought to you by Theodore Robert Bundy and Sk Inc.

After an extensive study of serial killers and their meticulous process, I created a starter kit to emphasize how important process is to the success of any craft. The medium of a starter kit was chosen in order to take the normally dark topic and place it in a familiar, more mundane context. It contains essential items that one would require to be a serial killer: meat cleaver, plastic hand cuffs, plastic raincoat, rubber gloves, safety goggles, stalking diary, anatomy poster, and a user manual. A user manual is read as a matter-of-fact, not as some thing that really involves morals or ethical questions, it is simply a process guide. The use of Helvetica Neue and overall design of it is very sterile, once again, to keep the emotions of the reader to a minimum.

Chuck

A photographic exploration of the All Star Converse shoes, also knowns as “Chucks”.

The shoes are so iconic that people develop relationships with their Chucks, wearing them until sole is hanging on, literally by a thread. The story is told using the shoes as a play on the brand name Converse and the verb to converse. Lighting, cropping, and staging are used to enhance the emotion and message of each page to create a coherent sequence.

The book is bound using the very same grommets that can be found on every All Star Converse shoe, and wrapped with black canvas to reference the classic black and white shoe that started it all.

Trepanation

Trepanation

This unicase typeface was inspired by Darren Aronofsky’s 1998 film, Pi. The central number in the film is the golden ratio. This ratio, 1.61803399, is considered to be the most aesthetically pleasing. The golden rectangle was the template used for designing each character in this typeface. The display typeface contains thirty-six characters, a through z, and 0 through 9.

Trepanation

The 30-second promotional video created for this typeface uses Clint Mansell’s track titled “pi r squared”.  The first 15 seconds show a three dimentional view as the rectangle is divided into its subsections and then the spiral is inscribed within it. It was important to emphasize the construction of the spiral so the viewer can become more familiar with the shapes and lines it creates, so during the second half of the video when the letters appear within the rectangle, it is easier to identify how they fit in.

Osem Corporate Identity

Osem Investments Ltd is an Israel-based food manufacturer and distributor established in 1946.

The new identity that has been developed for Osem is quite revolutionary. The colours are fresher, as is the wordmark font. The cursive Hebrew, and lower-case English is a move away from the current mechanical logo. It is meant to reflect Osem’s slogan, “It’s good. It’s Osem.”

Osem Corporate Identity

The clean simple lines and custom handmade letterforms are designed to create the feeling as if someone just jotted it down on a piece of paper. The leaf shape is an homage to the previous logo which has the symbol of a wheat stalk. Before, it was a representation of food and a relation to Israel, where the company originated. Now, the logo still symbolizes food, but more importantly healthy food.
