Snow White: An Autobiography

See all works by Dana Amin

This is a book i wrote and designed and it is a twist on already existing fairy tale characters. It is one that merges the fairy-tale life with modern day society. It was meant to show how corrupt our world is and how it can take such pure characters and make them do terrible things. I was inspired by high fashion photography and makeup, which is why  all the imagery in the book was original and reflected photographs of high fashion fairy-tale characters. I designed and made all the costumes in addition to recruiting a professional photographer, hairstylist, makeup artist and models. The book is over-sized and its dimensions are 10/12 inch. Most of the photographs are full bleed images in order to truly emphasize the beautiful detail in the makeup and lightning. In addition the colour pallet is very strict and it consists of red, black and white. I felt that those colors suited the dark theme and the overall feel of the book.
