The sixties was a time for bold colorful patterns, long hair, free-spiritedness, and free love. It was a time where the youth counter-culture was born. These groups of people experimented heavily with drugs and sex, and rocked out to their psychedelic groves. They represented the epitome of rebelliousness from the music they listened to, the clothing they wore, and the values they practiced. This is what Hippiefest is all about, but more or less about the experience of being surrounded by like-minded 60s and 70s aficionados. It is targeted towards those who want to relive their memories, or towards those who wish they lived in the 60s and 70s. It is a three day event where people would come together to either stay a day or to pitch a tent and stay for the full three days. There are various fun and exiting events that happen daily, and it is a great opportunity to meet new people who share similar beliefs. Staying the entire duration of the festival is really where you truly get to experience the hippie culture.
This system was designed contrary to any traditional and stereotypical multifaceted color schemes that are very typical for hippie related events. Instead, a more neutral dulled down to earth approach was achieved. Instead of going with such a literal approach to the event a more symbolic and connotative meaning is obtained from the poster itself, which gives the audience a more personal experience with it. They can draw their own conclusions and feelings from what they view. Though everyone experiences a different feeling, they more or less experience something similar.
